Having worked delicately with bromoil prints previously, I needed to know how far I could push the process.
The bromoil process begins with a normal black and white silver gelatin print, which is then bleached/tanned, leaving a shadow of the image. Soaking the print swells the lighter gelatin areas so they repel oil-based ink, whilst it sticks more to the harder shadows.
This video is the cumulative effect of soaking, blotting, inking, brushing, and wiping repeatedly and excessively.
